Our Story
At Corydon Bee Company, beekeeping is more than a business — it’s a family tradition rooted in love, hard work, and a deep respect for nature. The spark was lit decades ago by Floyd Shewmaker, Dale’s father, who began keeping bees in the 1970s and passed his passion down through the generations. In 2018, that flame was rekindled when our whole family — Dale, Cortney, and our two sons, Thomas and Henry — stepped into the world of bees together.
By day, Dale serves our community as a firefighter and Cortney shapes young minds as a teacher. In the time between, we find joy and purpose in tending to our bees and harvesting pure, local honey right here in Corydon, Indiana. Our sons love getting involved — from painting hive boxes to helping with honey extractions — making this a true family effort.
